1507700 Games racquets DUNLOP Ltd 29 June 1976 [12 July 1975 17 Oct 1975 7 Feb 1976] 29388/75 42603/75 and 4836/76 Heading A6D A games racquet includes a head comprising a loop of plastics material 41, in which is incorporated a tubular metal reinforcement 39 partially embedded within the plastics loop and viewable along the inner periphery thereof. A head portion of the racquet is formed preferably as a loop of moulded fibre reinforced plastics 41 with a circumferentially extending reinforcing metallic tube partially embedded within the plastics to expose along the length of the tube a portion 39 situate at the inner periphery of the frame. The tube may form a closed loop with end portions interengaging or moulded into a plastics throat section (Figs. 2-4) or alternatively (Fig. 1) ends of the tube may be connected to a metallic throat section to complete a head structure. Stringing apertures 50 having radially outwardly extending flanges 48, 49 may be circumferentially positioned about the tube with an interpositioning of unflanged holes to allow ingress of plastics material into the tube during moulding of the plastics thereon: the plastics being apertured 51 to receive the stringing in isolation from the metal tube. The preferred tube section is generally 'D' section and the preferred plastics materials are nylon, polypropylene polycarbonate or an ABS copolymer reinforced with carbon, glass or aromatic polyamide fibres with a stainless steel, aluminium or titanium metal reinforcement tube.
