Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball joint and a method of manufacturing the same capable of reducing fluctuation of torque caused by fluctuation of a caulking amount of a caulking part while suppressing enlargement in size.SOLUTION: A ball seat 16 is formed so that a tilt surface 29 is tilted at a first tilt angle α with respect to an axially perpendicular direction B. The ball seat 16 holding a ball part 21 is received by a housing body 37, and a protrusion part 28 protruded to the axially perpendicular direction B in an outer edge of an opening part 32 of a seat body 27 of the ball seat 16 is supported by a supporting part 38 tilted to the axially perpendicular direction B. The caulking part 39 is caulked and deformed in such a manner of tilting along a prescribed third tilt angle γ larger than the first tilt angle α with respect to the axially perpendicular direction B. The protrusion part 28 is fastened between the supporting part 38 and the caulking part 39 in at least a portion of the tilt surface 29 tilted to the seat body 27 side toward the outer edge along the prescribed first tilt angle α to the axially perpendicular direction B in a distal end side of the protrusion part 28.
