Title:
BALL JOINT FOR SERVO PISTON ACTUATOR IN BENT AXIS TYPE HYDRAULIC UNIT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001116144
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a bent axis type hydraulic unit of the oscillating yoke type.

A unique ball joint for actuating the servo piston of a bent axis unit is provided. The ball joint includes an actuator rod having a spherical outer surface at one end and a servo piston at the other, and a yoke supporting a cylinder block and rotating about a rotational axis. A spherical socket is interposed between the yoke and the spherical outer surface of the actuator rod to rotate the yoke in a configuration such that when hydraulic pressure is applied to the servo piston, the actuator rod causes forces to exist within at least two planes. Two each of servo pistons and ball joints may be provided for rotating the yoke from a neutral position to an angle exceeding ±45°. The outer surface of the rod and the outer surface of the socket must mate with each other to impart a degree of freedom of movement of 360°. The socket can be incorporated into the yoke itself.
