Title:
BALL-AND-ROLLER BEARING FOR ROLLING MILL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3553434
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball-and-roller bearing for rolling mills which has more effective rust-preventing function while maintaining the performance for a conventional ball-and-roller bearing using carbonized and quenched steel and is useable over a long period of time as compared with this conventional type of ball-and-roller bearing.
SOLUTION: The material of at least outer races 2a, 2b, 2c among inner races 1a, 1b, outer races 2a, 2b, 2c and rolling elements 5 is made of martensitic stainless steel and hardened surface layers SH including at least raceway track surfaces are formed. By making the hardness of the hardened surface layers SH to ≥HRC 57 and the hardness in parts other than those layer to HRC 28-47, toughness equal to that of the this conventional type of bearing using the carburized steel is provided and, besides, peeling caused by season rust is drastically reduced.
