Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in order to secure bloodstream, a guide wire needs to be returned to at least one proximal end perfusion opening, however when a distance between a proximal guide wire opening and a proximal end perfusion opening is short, the guide wire is likely to come off a catheter body.SOLUTION: A balloon catheter 10 includes: a fluid supply/exhaust shaft 12 including, at its end side, a balloon 11 which can be flexibly dilated; a guide wire shaft 24 provided inside the balloon 11 and provided in an internal space of the fluid supply/exhaust shaft 12, wherein a distal end opening 26 of the guide wire shaft 24 is positioned on a more distal end side than the balloon 11; and a side hole 40 which is positioned at a more distal end side than a proximal end opening 26 of the guide wire shaft 24 and through which the guide wire 30 protrudes into a blood vessel. The side hole 40 has an oval shape that has a longer side in a long axis direction of the catheter body.
