Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter that can precisely detect pressure at a specific site in a body to be treated using the catheter and is also excellent in safety and endurance without enlarging an outer diameter of the catheter or complicating its structure.SOLUTION: A balloon catheter 20 includes a balloon part 22 and a catheter tube 30. A wire 80 for insertion is inserted into a lumen 31 of an inner tube 30 of the catheter tube. The wire 80 for insertion includes a distal end wire 81 having a prescribed length, a hollow wire 82 and an optical fiber. A proximal end part of the distal end wire is attached to the hollow wire 82. An optical pressure sensor for detecting pressure of fluid flowing from an opening part 82b provided near the attaching distal end part is provided near the opening part 82b of the hollow wire 82. A most distal end of the distal end wire 81 is located in the lumen 31 at a prescribed distance L1 from a distal end opening 23 in a direction toward the proximal end.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
