Abstract:
To provide a balloon catheter.SOLUTION: A balloon catheter includes: a heating element 120 disposed about a portion of an outer surface of a catheter shaft 100; a balloon 115 mounted about the outer surface of the catheter shaft to coincide with the heating element; and thermally expandable material 125 disposed inside the mounted balloon. The balloon catheter eliminates the need for pressurized liquid inflation media to be dispensed into/expelled from the balloon in order to inflate/deflate, respectively, the balloon.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
