To provide a ballot paper reading/classifying device which allows improvement in user convenience without requiring a process of preliminarily placing all the ballot papers face up.
In the ballot paper reading/classifying device, an imaging unit 17 acquires image information of a ballot paper 4 by imaging both the edge faces of the ballot paper 4 conveyed through a conveyance path 111. An information processing means identifies the directions of front and back and top and bottom of the ballot paper 4 based on the image information received from the imaging unit 17. It also reads the content filled in on the filling frame of the ballot paper 4 and controls operations of a front and back inverting part 21, so as to place the ballot papers 4 face up and then deliver the ballot papers having the same content filled in to two groups of stackers 31-38 according to the direction of top and bottom of each ballet paper.
