To provide a balustrade which enables the mounting position of a transparent face member such as a glass pane to be flexible, and which is improved in aesthetic appearance by reducing the exposure of brackets and screw members to the outside.
This balustrade includes a plurality of struts 10 vertically installed at proper intervals, a top rail 3 installed between the upper ends of the struts 10, a lower frame 20 installed through brackets 4 fixed to the lower parts of the struts 10, and light-permeable glass panes 5 the bottom ends of which are held by the lower frame 20. The lower frame 20 is formed of a structural angle comprising an opening 21 allowing the bottom ends of the glass panes 5 to be inserted thereinto and a space 22 communicating with the opening 21. An arrangement part 23 for seal members 41, 42 which fill the gaps between the glass panes 5 and the opening 21 and an arrangement part 24 for spacers 50 on which the bottom ends of the glass panes 5 are placed are provided in the space 22. Fixing parts for fixing bolts 60 serving as fixing members for fixing the brackets 4 are also disposed therein.
