Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new compound useful as a hole-transportation material for organic thin-film EL element and organic thin film photocell and as a carrier transportation material for electrophotography.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula (R is H or methyl). It can be produced by reacting N,N'-diphenylbenzidine or N,N'-ditolylbenzidine with iodoanisole in the presence of copper powder, copper oxide, copper halide, etc., and a base at 150-250°C), treating the obtained N,N'-bis(methoxyphenyl)-N,N '-diarylbenzidin with trimethylsilane chloride and reacting the resultant N,N'-bis(hydroxyphenyl)-N,N'-diarylbenzidin with chloromethylstyrene in the presence of a base. The compound can be cross-linked after forming a film to give a flat and transparent thin film having high heat-resistance and solvent resistance.
