The band for holding the spectacle lens is bands 1a and 1b composed of thermoplastic resin monofilament, and holding the periphery of the spectacle lens. The shape of a vertical cross section to a length direction of the monofilament is composed of a flat part 20 which is slender in a horizontal direction, and one or more protrusions 30 which protrude unidirectionally, at least, in a top-and-bottom direction from the flat part. The height h of the protrusion in a vertical direction is 0.3 to 1 mm, and relationship between the height h and the width w in the horizontal direction of the protrusion satisfies 0.4≤h/w≤2.5, and the width L of the flat part in the horizontal direction is 1 to 3 mm, and the relationship between the width L and thickness D of the flat part in the vertical direction satisfies 5≤L/D≤60.
