To provide a banding wrapping method and apparatus whereby a strip-shaped craft paper can be tightly banded across the four sides of a stack of objects to be packaged, such as books with gaps between them.

The banding wrapping method and the apparatus for achieving the method are provided. A craft paper A to be cut is placed over the upper, front, and rear faces of an object W to be packaged while a predetermined compressing force F is applied to the upper face of the object W from above in the lifting step of a lift table 3a. Subsequently, with compressing force F applied to the upper face of the object W, the rear end of the craft paper A cut to a predetermined length is folded onto the lower face of the object W. The leading end part A1 of the craft paper A is folded upon the folded rear end part. Then, with the object W held in the compressed state, a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is applied to the lower face of the object W along the boundary formed by folding the craft paper upon the lower face of the object W. Thus, the banding wrapping of the object is completed.
