To provide a bankbook printer for printing on a bankbook issued from a banking organ in which print can be made correctly on the cover of the bankbook regardless whether the bankbook is inserted while opening the cover or closing the cover.

Means 2 for detecting open/close of bankbook detects open state and closed state of the cover of a bankbook 1 inserted for printing on the cover. A print position controlling means 3 compares an open state reference or close state reference of bankbook cover preset for determining a print reference position from the forward end of the bankbook in correspondence with a predetermined print position of the bankbook cover with an open state or close state detected by the bankbook open/close detecting means 2 and corrects the print position if both states do not match otherwise the print position is not corrected. Based on print position information of corrected print position from the print position controlling means 3, a bankbook print means 4 prints print data at a predetermined print position of the bankbook cover.
