To provide a bar cutting tool reducing the operating force of an operating lever required in cutting a bar.
In this cutting tool, the bar is inserted between U-shaped cutting edges of a first cutting edge body 13 and a second cutting edge body 14 overlapping each other, and two cutting edge bodies are relatively turned by the operating lever 15 through an interlocking connecting means 16 to cut the bar by turning the U-shaped cutting edges from the open position into the closed position. The interlocking connecting means is constituted to move the operating lever forward from a starting point to an end point and to turn the second cutting edge body in a clockwise direction. The first cutting edge body is fixed out of clockwise turning in the state of putting the U-shaped cutting edge in the open position while being journaled turnably in a counterclockwise direction. An auxiliary driving means 22 is provided between the first cutting edge body and the operating lever. The auxiliary driving means is constituted not to turn the first cutting edge body when the operating lever turns in a range of an initial operating angle θ1 from the starting point, but to rotate the first cutting edge body in the counterclockwise direction when the operating lever turns in a range of a terminal operating angle θ2 toward the end point.
