Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the wear resistance of the inner periphery of a barrel hole, to simultaneously reduce the residual stress and assure a stress relaxation layer and to further decrease the cost by providing a wear resistant layer at the site where the wear is relatively severe.
SOLUTION: The barrel for a twin-screw kneading extruder has two barrel holes 11, 12 rotatably engaged with screws 13, 14 and formed with barrel inner surfaces at a base material, and comprises wear resistant layers 1 to 4 provided at least one of two intersections where the inner peripheries of the two holes intersect and its vicinity.
