In a barrette which comprises a pair of hair retainers making open and close motion, one of hinge pieces engaging each other is attached with a hinge cover covering the inside edge of the other hinge piece, and it prevents hair coming into a gap of the both hinge pieces engaging each other, and a cylindrical part is formed protruding sideways on an outer hinge piece of the two hinge pieces, and ends of a shaft having a layer diameter is fixed being engaged inside the cylindrical part, and it prevents hair coming into the gap between the hinge pieces and the shaft ends. And, on a clipping part of the inner side of a hair retainer, plural projections facing to the other hair retainer is formed, and it improves the ability to grip the hair on the clipping part of the pair of hair retainers.
