To provide a gypsum board which shows high moisture absorption and dissipation amount per initial time, i.e., rapid response to an indoor environmental change by using a base paper impregnated with a moisture-absorbing/ dissipating substance.
A base paper impregnated with a moisture-absorbing/dissipating substance is used. For the moisture-absorbing/dissipating substance, an inorganic substance made up of one kind or more of a clay mineral selected from sepiolite, attapulgite, montmorillonite, diatomite, zonolite, silica gel type A and type B, activated clay and the like, a water-soluble polymer substance made up of POVAL(polyvinyl alcohol), CMC, polyethylene oxide, starch and soda polyacrylate, or an organic moisture-absorbing/dissipating substance made up of one kind or more of an organic substance selected from a natural fiber, a regenerated fiber, a semisynthetic fiber and a moisture-absorbing synthetic fiber, is used. The appropriate loadings of the moisture-absorbing/dissipating substance are 5-50 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. (dry weight) waste paper pulp of newspaper and magazine.
