To provide a decoration/display base film composed of a high density polyethylene resin or a resin composition having a high density polyethylene resin as the major component, and a method of manufacturing such a film by calendering of the above resin composition.

The decoration/display base film, e.g. a marking and sticker base film can be obtained from a high density polyethylene resin composition comprising a high density polyethylene having a weight average molecular weight of 1×105 to 1.9×105 and a melt tension, when the take-off speed at 180°C by a capillary rheometer is set at 5 m/min, of ≥3 gf and 0-25 wt.% ethylene/butylene random copolymer by calender molding. According to the calendering of such a high density polyethylene resin composition, a decoration/ display base film with uniform thickness and smooth surfaces free of a bank mark, a flow mark, and an orange peel surface can be obtained with good take-off properties without being caught by rolls.
