Abstract:
To reduce horizontal quake of a light building such as a wooden house due to earthquake.
A body 1 is fixed to a foundation with an anchor bolt and a sliding bed 2 is installed thereon. A large steel ball 3 incorporated in the sliding bed 2 is supported by four small steel balls 4 so that the large steel ball is smoothly rotated with its force dispersed. When quake due to earthquake exceeds the range of this base isolation device, a recessed portion of the body 1 and a protruded portion of the sliding bed 2 mesh with each other to prevent the overturn of the building.
