Abstract:
To provide a base-isolating device which can absorb a shock without reference to the direction of earthquakes, and can damp an aftershock at an early stage.
In this base-isolating device 1, a piston-like damper 2 is vertically arranged, and supporting plates 4 and 5 are connected to upper and lower ends of the damper 2 via a universal joint 3, respectively. An elastic member 6, which is deformed by forces from vertical and horizontal directions, is connected throughout both the supporting plates 4 and 5 in the state of surrounding the damper 2 in such a manner as to be positioned around the damper 2.
