Title:
BASE ISOLATION ELEMENTS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3131829
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a special damping device and reduce the size by engaging a plurality of wheels between recessed lower rail and upper rail fixed in a plurality of parallel lines, and rolling each wheel along the upper and lower rails while independently rotating by earthquake motion.
SOLUTION: Lower rails 4 are fixed on a support body 2 in a plurality of parallel lines, and formed into a recessed form having the lowest level in the center part. Upper rails 5 are fixed under a body to be supported 3 in parallel to the lines of the lower rails 4, and formed into a recessed form having the highest level in the center part. A plurality of wheels 7 arranged on a pair of axles 8 is engaged between the lower rails 4 and the upper rails 5. When an earthquake motion is generated in the lateral direction X, the wheels 7 are rolled on the lower rails 4 and the upper rails 5 with rotation, and relatively displaced. Consequently, since the load of the body to be supported 3 acts through the wheels 7 and the axles 8 without directly reaching the support 2, the friction between the wheels 7 and the axles 8 acts as a damping force to work a base isolating effect.
