Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb the vibration of a weak earthquake with a vibration damping performance of a flexible support and the vibration of a strong earthquake with a vibration damping performance of both of the flexible support and the sliding plates layered structure by arranging the sliding plate layered structure so as to be surrounded by the flexible support.
SOLUTION: In this device, a sliding plates 20 layered structure is housed in a hollow part of a flexible support 10 with a space 25. The sliding plates 20 have a high pressure receiving force against the compressing force, and a load in the vertical direction is supported by both the flexible support 10 and sliding plates 20. The sliding plates 20 contact with each other with a high friction coefficient in the layered condition and they can be slid in the horizontal direction. In the case of a weak earthquake, since the horizontal displacement of the flexible support 10 is a little and displacement is not generated in the sliding plates 20 because of the existence of the high frictional force and the space 25, an effective trigger function is generated. In case of a strong earthquake, the sliding plates 20 are slid each other by the pushing force of the flexible support 10 in the horizontal direction, and the sliding plates 20 and the flexible support 10 absorb the energy at the same time so as to realize high vibration energy absorbing effect.
