Abstract:
To obtain a high-performance base oil of light lubricating oil advantageously usable as a base oil of various kinds of lubricating oils and easily producible from heavy gas oil or vacuum gas oil at a relatively low cost.
This base oil of light lubricating oil is a hydrocarbon-based oil having the following properties: (1) the boiling point is within the range of 250-430°C under normal pressure, (2) the total aromatic content is ≤1.8wt.%, (3) the kinetic viscosity is 5-10mm2/s at 40°C, (4) the viscosity index is ≥95, (5) the pour point is ≥-10°C and (6) the oxidation stability of the oil incorporated with 0.5wt.% of 2,6-di-t-butyl-p-cresol(DBPC) is ≥340min in terms of RBOT value.
