PURPOSE: To obtain the base resin composition for a flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition, exhibiting an excellent flame retardancy without blending a halogen-containing flame-retardant and useful for molding of a business machine, an electric apparatus, etc., by blending a phenolic resin with ABS resin.
CONSTITUTION: (B) A phenolic resin is blended with (A) a thermoplastic resin (In case a rubbery polymer is used, the graft ratio is 10 to 150wt.%) composed of 0 to 70wt.% rubbery polymer and 100 to 30wt.% polymer component synthesized from an aromatic vinyl monomer, a vinyl cyanide monomer and/or a maleimide-based monomer. The content of the component (A) is usually 1 to 99wt.%, preferably 40 to 85wt.% and the content of the component (B) is usually 1 to 99wt.%, preferably 15 to 60wt.%. If a phosphate-based compound is blended with the resultant base resin composition, the objective flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition is obtained.
