Abstract:

To provide a low friction alloy showing low friction/low wear in ethanol, and suitable to be used as a sliding member, and to provide a method for producing the low friction alloy.

The αFeSi2-based low friction alloy is constituted of an αFeSi2 single phase, or two phases of αFeSi2 phase and FeSi phase or αFeSi2 phase and Si phase, or three phases of αFeSi2 phase, FeSi phase and Si phase, wherein the ratio of atoms of Fe and Si in the alloy is in the range of 35:65 to 20:80, and low friction is shown with respect to a member composed of Si3N4 in ethanol having purity of ≥90%.
