PURPOSE: To obtain the coating material which can be easily removed from a tundish without impairing the property to clean steel and corrosion resistance possessed by the basic type coating material.
CONSTITUTION: This coating material for the tundish is formed by compounding a water-absorptive resin, such as acrylate polymer, at outer 0.01 to 10wt.% with 100wt.% refractory aggregate essentially consisting of basic refractory raw materials. Sintering is prohibited by the water retentitivity obtd. by the water-absorptive resin. Since the refractory aggregate is the basic refractory raw materials, the sintering strength of the aggregate to each other is lowered by the combination with the water-absorptive resin. The removal is, therefore, rapid and easy.
