The basket with a lid has a basket body 1 and the lid body 2. The lid body 2 is provided with an outer peripheral edge part 22 having a predetermined small width to be placed over an opening edge part 14 of the basket body 1, and the whole inside surface of the outer peripheral edge part 22 is formed into a flat surface portion 21 through the stepped down wall 23 stepped down from the outer peripheral part 22 by a predetermined small depth. While the lid body 2 is set to the basket body 1, the outer peripheral surface 23a of the stepped down wall of the lid body 2 is close to the inner peripheral surface 13a of an upper opening of the basket body 1, and the lid body 2 is positioned in a horizontal direction relative to the basket body 1, so that the lid body 2 is effectively used as the table surface.
