To provide a batch type method for transesterification by which safe and stable operations can be carried out by preventing a part of an oligomer from scattering on a condenser, reflux pipe and a distillate discharging pipe during a reaction.
The calorific heat fed to a transesterifying vessel 1 is controlled according to the amount of an alkylene glycol staying in a rectifying column 7 during the transesterification in a method for leading a low-boiling point substance produced in the transesterification through the rectifying column 7 to a condenser 8, cooling and condensing the low-boiling point substance, distilling off the low-boiling point substance, controlling the temperature in the rectifying column 7 with a part of the resultant distillate as a refluxing liquid and carrying out the transesterification when an ester-forming derivative of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and the alkylene glycol are subjected to the transesterification by a batch type method.
