To provide a battery cooling device capable of satisfactorily cooling each battery cell reaching a high temperature by controlling the flowing direction of coolant in a battery case in accordance with the distribution state of the battery cell reaching the high temperature.
This battery cooling device is equipped with: a battery module 200 in which a plurality of battery cell 31a-31m is arranged; a battery case 30 to house the battery module 200; detecting parts 36a-36m capable of detecting temperatures of the battery cells 31a-31m; first, second, and third coolant flowing pipes 11-14 which are connected to the battery case 30, and through which coolant capable of cooling the battery cells 31a-31m flows; a supply part capable of supplying the coolant; a discharge part capable of discharging the coolant; a switching mechanism to switch the connection state of the first, second, and third coolant supply pipes 11-14 and the supply part to/from the connection state of the first, second, and third coolant supply pipes and the discharge part; and a control part capable of driving the switching mechanism based on information from the detecting parts 36a-36m.
