To provide a battery equalization circuit that detects a fault of a circuit which discharges electricity for equalizing an accumulated electric charge amount of each secondary battery used for a battery pack composed of a plurality of the secondary batteries, and to provide a battery power supply device using the battery equalization circuit.
The battery equalization circuit includes discharging units X1 to X10 connected to the secondary batteries B1 to B10 in parallel therewith, respectively, a fault detection unit 41 which detects faults of the discharging units X1 to X10, and an imbalance reduction circuit 5 which reduces imbalance by using the discharging units X1 to X10 when there occurs the imbalance at each secondary battery. The discharging units X1 to X10 are formed by connecting in series photocouplers PC1 to PC10, switching elements SW1 to SW10 which are on/off-controlled by the imbalance reduction circuit 5, and resistors R1 to R10. The fault detection unit 41 determines the presence of the faults of the discharging units X1 to X10 on the basis of current detection signals Scd1 to Scd10 which are output from the photocouplers PC1 to PC10.
