PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery pack and battery control method for making it possible to easily perform setting of identification information on a battery module.SOLUTION: A battery pack includes a battery control unit and a monitoring unit. The battery control unit transmits utilization information showing whether or not identification information for identifying the monitoring unit is used to the monitoring unit. When receiving the utilization information from the battery control unit, the monitoring unit refers to the utilization information to calculate temporary identification information, which is unused identification information of the identification information, and transmits the temporary identification information to the battery control unit. When receiving the temporary identification information from the monitoring unit, the battery control unit reflects the temporary identification information on the utilization information to store it in a storage unit and transmits the utilization information to the monitoring unit. When receiving the utilization information, the monitoring unit stores temporary identification information as the monitoring unit's identification information in the case of determining that the temporary identification information is reflected on the received utilization information.
