To provide a battery recharging device which extends the lifetime of a three-phase AC generator by performing ON/OFF control of thyristors in such a way that a current flowing in a short-circuit is supplied to each phase at an equal rate and by balancing the winding currents of the three-phase AC generator between phases if an output of the three-phase AC generator is short-circuited when a battery is fully charged.
The battery recharging device has: the three-phase AC generator, which supplies an AC voltage for charging the battery; diode bridges, which rectify the AC voltage of each phase of the three-phase AC generator: the thyristors, which control the short-circuit of the output terminals of the three-phase AC generator; a battery voltage detection section, which detects whether or not a charging voltage of a battery to be charged exceeds a preset threshold value and outputs a detection signal; a thyristor ignition start timing memory, which outputs a thyristor-on signal which turns on each thyristor when the detection signal is inputted; and an thyristor-on signal output section, which puts the thyristors into the ON state in the phase order of an AC voltage of each phase based on the thyristor-in signal.
