Abstract:
To provide a battery separator showing excellent battery characteristics when carrying a normal current and capable of preventing electrodes from coming into contact under a high temperature.
This battery separator is manufactured by melting and kneading a porous film forming resin, a solvent and a resin not melting at the mixing temperature and becoming fibrous by a shearing force due to kneading, and making porous this kneaded substance after formed in a film-like shape. As a resin to be fibrous by a shearing force, a polytetrafluoroethylene powder or an easily fibrillated polyvinyl alcohol fiber can be used; the compounding ratio 1 to 50 wt.% to the total amount of the porous film forming resin and the solvent.
