A battery controller is applied to a battery system having an alternator 10, electric loads 41, 42, 43 electrically connected in parallel to the alternator 10, a lead accumulator 20 electrically connected in parallel to the alternator 10, a lithium battery 30 electrically connected in parallel to the alternator 10 for charging generating power of the alternator 10 and discharge power of the lead accumulator 20, and an SMR switch 60 for switching electrical conduction or cut-off between the alternator 10 and electric loads 42, 43, and the lead accumulator 20 and the lithium battery 30. When the SMR switch 60 is switched to electrical conduction and the lithium battery 30 is not charged, the SMR 60 is switched to cut-off.
