Title:
BATTERY USING POSITIVE ELECTRODE FORMED BY CARBONIC COMPOUND PARTICLES COATED WITH NITROGEN POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6142857
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the performance of a dry cell or a storage battery by using a positive electrode containing a halogen which is made by molding carbonic compound particles coated with a nitrogen-containing vinyl monomer.

CONSTITUTION: After a carbonic compound such as carbon black is dispersed in a medium such as water, a nitrogen-containing vinyl monomer such as acrylonitrile or a copolymer containing the monomer and a polymerization initiator are added to the dispersion. Then, this mixture is agitated to subject it to polymerization thereby preparing carbonic compound particles homogeneously coated with a polymer. Next, thus prepared carbonic compound particles are pressed and molded into a body having the shape of a positive electrode which is then immersed in a solution of a halogen such as iodine, thereby making a positive electrode containing the halogen. A battery with superior capacity, output, preservation performance and charge-and-discharge cycle can be assembled by using this positive electrode.
