Title:
BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1167279
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely short circuit a battery even if a sharp conductor is stuck into the battery from any direction by arranging an equipotential body which is electrically connected to a positive plate and a negative plate so as to cover the side circumferential surface and both end surfaces of an electrode stacked body, along the inner circumferential surface of a battery can, and arranging an insulator for insulating from the battery can and the electrode stacked body in the surrounding to the equipotential body. SOLUTION: This lithium battery 100 has equipotential bodies 140a, 140b, 140c electrically connected to a positive plate 112 so as to practically cover the side circumferential surface and both end surfaces of a electrode stacked body 110, along the inner circumferential surface of a battery can 120. Insulators 150a, 150b, 150c for insulating from the battery can 120 and the electrode stacked body 110 are arranged in the surroundings of the equipotential bodies 140a, 140b, 140c. The positive plate 112 is insulated from the battery can 120 and introduced to a terminal 130, and a negative plate 114 is electrically connected to the battery can 20. Even if a sharp conductor is stuck into the electrode stack body 110 by passing through the battery can 120, short circuit current flows between the equipotential bodies 140a, 140b, 140c and the battery can 120, and an accident such as the rupture of a battery caused by high heat is prevented.
