PURPOSE: To make assembly easy and prevent internal short of a battery by installing an insulating cylinder in a through hole of a positive plate.

CONSTITUTION: A positive plate 12, a negative plate 13, and a positive plate 14 are stacked in order with separators 15 interposed in between in a container 11 which also acts as a positive terminal. A conductive pin 16 acting as a negative terminal is projected from a container cover 17 passing through the separators 15 and the positive plate 14. The lower end of the conductive pin 16 is spot- welded with a current collector 18 placed inside the negative plate 13 to connect electrically. An insulating seal 16 is placed between the conductive pin 16 and the container cover 17 to insulate electrically. An insulating cylinder 20 is formed together with the inside edge of a through hole 14a for the conductive pin 16 of the positive plate 14. A hole is formed in the center of the positive plate, then the insulating cylinder 20 comprising a "Teflon" tube is placed in the center of the hole, and they are pressed together to make one body.
