PURPOSE: To obtain a beautifying agent and a skin cosmetic having excellent preventing and improving effects on pigmentation by compounding a naphthalenecarboxamide or an isoquinolinecarboxamide as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: A skin cosmetic capable of preventing melanin formation at melanocytes, excellent in a beautifying effect on the skin after ultraviolet irradiation and effective on the prevention and the treatment of spots, freckles, etc., caused by e.g. sunburn contains a naphthalenecarboxamide or an isoquinolinecarboxamide expressed by the formula [X is CH or N; Y is COOR or CON(R)R (R is H or 1-14C alkyl)] as an active component. The compound of the formula has high safety. It is preferably compounded in a skin cosmetic in an amount of 0.0001-5wt.%.
