PURPOSE: To obtain a laser beam scanning type recorder having a highly accurate fθ characteristic circuit using a digital circuit by providing a delaying means for outputting a dot clock signal, and an addressing means for updating an address in an fθ characteristic storage circuit according to dot clock data generated by a counter means.
CONSTITUTION: An fθ characteristic storage means stores clock number data and delay stage number data. A delaying means comprises a plurality of delaying elements connected in series with each other, the delaying elements having a delay time shorter than a reference clock period of an fθ characteristic circuit for giving a timing for light emission of a laser diode. The delaying means can generate clock signals with different timings. Clock number data is so determined as to give a scanning position of a laser beam proximate to a dot position on a scanning line on a photosensitive body. A counter means counts the number of the clocks, and generates an image clock, which is sent to the delaying means. The delaying means generates a light emission timing by delaying the image clock so as to further reduce the dispersion of the delay time, according to the delay stage number data.
