Abstract:
To provide a bearing device for effectively reducing a friction loss during low-speed rotation and agitating loss caused by lubricating oil during high-speed rotation, and to provide a rotary machine.
The bearing device 100 includes a seal member 55 provided at an edge 51A of a bearing housing 51 having a pad storage portion 53 formed inside at least on the lower side opposite to an outer peripheral face 10A as a supported face of a rotating shaft 10 for sealing a clearance 54 to the outer peripheral face 10A of the rotating shaft 10, and a holding means 60 for adjusting the amount of lubricating oil held in the pad storage portion 53 depending on the rotating speed of the rotating shaft 10.
