PURPOSE:To enhance the working efficiency of the removal of a bearing from a roll chock and as well to enhance the sealing ability of the bearing, by abutting a rear lid arranged on the roll barrel side and fitted in the roll chock, against the inner surface of a flange part so that the removable of the bearing from the roll chock may be simplified. CONSTITUTION:A flange section 7 formed in the roll barrel 1b side end part of a roll chock 3 and projecting toward the inner diameter side of the roll chock 3, is abutted, at its inner surface, by a rear lid 8 positioned on the roll barrel 1b side and loosely fitted into the inner diameter section of the roll chock 3. In order to remove a bearing 5 from the roll chock 3, the roll chock assembly is pulled out from the roll 1 and is laid on a sleeper B after the removal of a front lid 14, and the bearing 5 is slung up together with the rear lid 8 from the roll chock 3 by means of a sling fixture A to remove the bearing 5. Therefore, the working efficiency of removal of the bearing 5 may be remarkably enhanced. Further, since face seals 13 fitted in the inner race of the bearing are slidably contacted to the inner surfaces of the front and rear lids 14, 8, the bearing is sealed by the face seals 13 even if the rotational axes of the roll and the bearing are not aligned together, thereby the durability and sealing ability of the sealing means may be enhanced.
