Abstract:
To suppress generation of fine cracks in a caulked portion of a rotary shaft in relation to a hub wheel, in a bearing device for a vehicle incorporated with a constant velocity joint.
This bearing device includes the hub wheel formed with a hub flange on an outer peripheral surface and the rotary shaft made of a steel material which is formed integrally with a cup-shaped outer ring member of the constant velocity joint and is inserted into a center hole of the hub wheel. An end portion of the rotary shaft is expanded radially outward toward the hub wheel to be formed into the caulked portion. A sulfur content is adjusted to be 0.015 wt.% or less in a steel material forming the caulked portion.
