PURPOSE: To provide a bearing device for a vertical rotating machine, that is an air-cooled type by self-ventilation and compact as a whole.
CONSTITUTION: An oil circulating passage is so formed that oil in an oil tank 1 is fed to an automatic aligning thrust bearing 5 by an oil pump 2 and that the oil is returned into the oil tank 1 by a return pipe 7. A cooling fin 13 is provided at the periphery of the return pipe 7, and the oil tank 1 is provided with cooling pipes 10 vertically piercing the oil tank 1. The oil becoming high in temperature in the automatic aligning thrust bearing 5 is therefore cooled twice in the cooling fin 13 by the air blasting (cooling air) of blades 9 and in the cooling pipes 10. An adjusting screw 3 is provided at the intermediate part of an oil passage 11 reaching the automatic aligning thrust bearing 5 from the oil pump 2, and the circulating oil quantity is adjusted to the optimum oil quantity by the adjusting screw 3.
