The bearing device for the wheel is constituted by fixing the inner ring 3 by a caulking portion 2c formed by press-fitting the inner ring 3 on a smaller diameter stepped portion 2b of a hub ring 2 to plastically deform an end of the smaller diameter stepped portion 2b in a radially outward direction. A relation L1L2135 is satisfied when the wall thickness of a shoulder portion of the inner ring 3 is represented by L1 and a touch portion width between contact point P1 of inside rolling surface 3a of the inner ring 3 with a rolling element 6 and a larger end 3b of the inner ring 3 is represented by L2. A recessed portion 12 is formed in advance in an end of the inner side of the hub ring 2. A relation L3L4 is satisfied when the depth from the larger end 3b of the inner ring 3 of the recessed portion 12 is represented by L4 and the axial dimension from an intersection P2 of the line of action of a bearing train on the inner side with the smaller diameter stepped portion 2b to the larger end 3b of the inner ring 3 is represented by L3.
