To provide a radial/thrust bearing device using a smaller number of components and assuring easiness to install.
The radial/thrust bearing device 10 is equipped with a radial roller bearing 30 to bear a gear 16 set on a shaft 12, a thrust rolling bearing 20 to bear the flank of the gear 16 in the axial direction between the gear 16 and a retainer 14, and a consolidated retainer 18. The consolidated retainer 18 consists in a consolidated structure of a cylindrical retainer 34 to hold rollers 32 of the radial roller bearing 30 and a plate-form retainer 28 to hold balls 26 of the thrust rolling bearing 20. The radial roller bearing 30 is equipped with the rollers 32 and the cylindrical retainer 34, in which the outside surface of the shaft 12 and the inside surface of the gear 16 serve as raceway surfaces. The thrust rolling bearing 20 is equipped with the balls 26 and the plate-form retainer 28, in which the flanks of the gear 16 and the side faces of the retainer 14 serve as raceway surfaces.
