Abstract:

To reduce rigidity in the lateral direction of a bearing device, reduce a peak of an oil film pressure, and improve durability and reliably of a bearing device by a method wherein notches extending from a mounting surface to below are formed in the two end parts of a saddle.

Notches 11 extending from mounting surfaces 6a and 6b to below are formed in the two end parts of a saddle 4. When a load in the horizontal direction is exerted on a bearing device 100, lateral rigidity of the bearing device 100 is reduced by the notches 11 and continuity of rigidity in the lateral direction of the mounting surfaces 6a and 6b is kept, whereby the bearing device 100 is elastically deformed following a crankshaft 1. Since the elastic deformation increases the generating region of an oil film pressure and a difference in burden capacity between upper and lower bearing metals 2 is decreased, a peak of the oil film pressure is decreased. Meanwhile, since the notch 11 lowers rigidity against inclination of the crankshaft 1, the bearing device 100 is apt to follow inclination of the crankshaft 1 and since relative deviated contact between the bearing device 100 and the crankshaft 1 is reduced, it attributes to reduction of the peak of the oil film pressure.
