Abstract:
Zinc-free spray powder comprises: 5-30 wt.% tin; 0.1-5 wt.% aluminum, not > 1 wt.% iron, and balance of copper (100 wt.%), where the powder does not comprise unavoidable contaminants. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a zinc-free layer system applied via thermal spray, comprising a surface layer, preferably a bearing layer of a bearing part in a bearing apparatus; (2) a work piece comprising a layer system, preferably a connecting rod for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine; and (3) manufacturing a layer system for manufacturing a surface layer on a bearing part of a bearing apparatus, where the spray method is a thermal spray process, preferably an atmospheric plasma spray method, a vacuum plasma spray method, a high velocity oxygen fuel spray process, a flame spray method, or a cold gas spray method.
