Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate control and smooth rotation by a method wherein 2 pairs of opposite surfaces are arranged between a moving member and a fixed member, a ball is arranged between the recesses of the first opposite surfaces, a damping member is provided between the second opposite surfaces, and the moving member is energized so that a distance between the first opposite surfaces is decreased.
SOLUTION: When, by operating an active axial bearing 14, floating to a given position is effected, moving members 15a and 15b are energized to the central side due to a deviation between permanent magnets. The peripheral grooves 22A-23B of opposite surfaces and balls 26a and 26b are forced into adhesion to each other, and since the sections of the peripheral grooves 22A-23B are higher than those of the balls 26a and 26b, centering of the moving members 15a and 15b to a stator 13 is practicable, and centering of a rotor 7 is also effected by passive radial bearings 17a and 17b. Damping members 30a and 30b are a cylindrical resilient body, the end part is fixed to the moving members 15a and 15b, and the other end part is fixed to a stator 3. When the rotor 7 is rotated, resonance in the axial direction of a spindle 4 occurs at the specified number of revolutions but the resonance is absorbed by the damping members 30a and 30b, and stable rotation is maintainable.
