To provide a low-cost radial gap type bearingless motor in which the number of inverters required for torque control and support force control of a rotor is reduced and a wide gap is provided between the rotor and a stator.
A bearingless motor 1 comprises a rotor and a stator. In the rotor, a permanent magnet 13 is provided which is disposed to generate a magnetic flux in a radial direction from a rotational axis. The stator opposes the rotor with a gap interposed in the radial direction of the rotor and includes winding 12 having a first winding portion in which a current component in the radial direction of the rotor flows, and a second winding portion in which a current component in an axial direction of the rotor flows. The magnetic flux from the permanent magnet 13 interlinks the first winding portion in which the current flows, such that a first Lorentz force is generated and a support force is generated which supports the rotor without contact in a rotation axis direction. The magnetic force from the permanent magnet 13 interlinks the second winding portion in which the current flows, a second Lorentz force is generated which becomes rotation torque of the rotor.
