Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily realize an optical pulse tester for reducing fading noise wherein a constitution is simple and heterodyne detection having a wide measurable range is applied.

CONSTITUTION: A beat component multiplexing heterodyne detecting light pulse tester comprises a light source part, a splitting means for splitting 8 light pulse into test light and local light emission, an input/output means for accepting the test light and taking out backscattered light generated from an optical fiber to be measured, a combining means for combining the backscattered light with the local light emission, a light receiving means for converting the combined light into an electric signal to obtain a beat signal, a standard signal source, a mixing means for these signals and a processing means for converting into a baseband to obtain a backscattered light waveform of the optical fiber to be measured. The light source part comprises a plurality of light sources 32,33 for emitting light pulses having oscillation peaks wherein either a wavelength interval or a frequency interval is equal.
